In the early 70s, Raimund Thiery sen. opened the historic castle's gates for the first time in order to welcome guests at the newly refurbished Schloß Dürnstein. In the meantime the Hotel has become one of the most prestigeous adresses in Austria, was one of the first non-French members of the renowned Relais & Chateaux association of luxury hotels and is still operated by the Thiery family.
