Corpus Christi Corpus Christi
The Feast of Corpus Christi (Fronleichnamsfest) is a Catholic solemnity celebrating the bodily presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. In the liturgy, it is known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, but regionally in Austria it is also known as Prangertag or Blutstag.

The holiday occurs on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday (60 days after Easter) and will occur this year on June 19.

A procession takes place after the Holy Mass which begins at 9:30. The town is thoroughly decorated with birch and ornaments. For decades, our altar in the hotel’s entrance has been a part of the procession through Dürnstein The locals, dressed in uniform, accompany their priest.

Weingut Mauritiushof Spitz

Mauritiushof, first built in the 13th century, was at that time an outpost for Benedictine monks from the Niederaltaich Abbey in Bavaria. The origins of the name “Mauritiushof” are from the neighboring parish church dedicated to St. Mauritius.
The historically-rich estate came under Gritsch Family ownership in 1799.

For this gala evening, Franz Josef Gritsch will pair and personally comment on Grüner Veltliner selections for every individual course.

Winery Heymann-Löwenstein

For the first time ever, we pleased to welcome the Heymann-Löwenstein family to our house. We are thrilled to include their wonderful Rieslings alongside wines from the Gritsch estate to complement the menu.

Over the course of the evening, one will certainly have ample opportunity to deepen one’s understanding of the world of wine together with Mr. and Mrs. Löwenstein.
