Schloss Dürnstein Relais & Chateaux
Cycling Cycling
With the Danube’s calming flow, the scent of blossoming fruit trees, and birds singing down from trees, you’ll never find any reasons to cut your bike ride short. It really is that lovely. The Wachau will slow down and bring you a sense of balance: you’ll see for yourself how wonderfully relaxed you’ll be when you return from your ride.

We provide our guests with free mountain bikes to use during their stay. You can arrange to borrow them at the reception anytime.

In addition to that we are pleased to have 2 E-Bikes for you to rent for a fee of
€ 30,00 a whole day and € 20,00 for half-a-day.

Why not enjoying the summer breeze while going on an excursion along the Danube river with one of our Schloss scooters. After seeing your drivers' licence for motorcycles (our scooters are motorized with 125ccm) we provide the helmets and scooters free of charge.
Water Recreation Water Recreation
Experience the Wachau or other nearby nature highlights from a new angle. Exploring the water opens up new worlds. The canoe and the stand-up paddle board (SUP) both provide ideal opportunities to discover them. Calm coves, lone islands, side streams, wetlands, sand and stone banks—new areas to explore, all surrounded by sunny vineyards, quaint villages, castles, and ruins.
Kanu Wachau is an official ASUPA (Austrian Stand Up Paddling Association) center with the latest Naish equipment ready for you to use. Come learn about the popular recreation from Hawaii. SUP is easy to learn, enjoyable for almost all age groups, and provides a great joint workout. It gives you new perspectives on the water and gets you out into nature. It’s so much fun!
We speak german, english and spanish.
Hiking Hiking
Many hiking trails are waiting for you to discover them. Walk through the orchards near the Danube’s south shore or climb up to one of the many scenic viewing points. Even seasoned hikers come to explore some of the hilly world heritage routes on their own.

Special hiking guides are also available to show you these trails.
Climbing Climbing
The climbing zone in Dürnstein is a good place for climbers to learn and practice.

On the east end of the town, beyond the town entrance, an alley leads left into the ditch. At the first left turn (at the bank), there is a small path that leads directly to the Däumling (little thumb), the highest and perhaps also the most worthwhile tower to climb in the castle moat. Next to the experienced climbing area you can also find several enjoyable and more-accessible routes along the east wall.
Golf Golf
There are over 40 golf clubs within your reach in Lower Austria alone, including 5 within a 40 km radius from us.

Most of the clubs in the region offer hotel guests a special green fee discount. Please ask us for a confirmation at the reception!
