Ruins of Dürnstein
A short and easy circular route leading up to the historic Dürnstein Castle Ruins. Along the way, spectacular views of the Danube and the monastery of Dürnstein open up again and again. Perfect for anyone looking to combine culture and nature. The ascent follows either the steeper Eselsteig or the gentler path through the Wunderburggraben.

Panoramaweg - Scenic Trail Achleiten in Weißenkirchen
The Panoramaweg Achleiten stretches just under four kilometers and rewards walkers with impressive views over the Danube Valley. Starting from the main square, the trail leads past historic stone terraces up into the vineyard site “Ried Klaus”, with small benches and resting spots inviting you to pause. On sunny days, green lizards can be spotted basking on warm rocks while the vineyard landscape unfolds below. The return route passes through a shady forest section and a short part of the World Heritage Trail back to the village center.

Vogelbergsteig in Dürnstein
The Vogelbergsteig is a demanding yet rewarding hike featuring spectacular panoramic views of the Wachau. Narrow paths, serpentines, rock passages and woodland sections make the ascent varied and exciting. The highlight is the viewing platform “Dürnsteiner Kanzel”, offering striking vistas across the Danube Valley. The descent leads past the ruins of Dürnstein Castle. Surefootedness, good fitness and sturdy footwear are recommended—every effort is worth the scenery.

Panoramaweg - Scenic Trail Rossatz
The Panoramaweg Rossatz leads through sun-kissed vineyards, orchards and quiet meadows, always accompanied by impressive views of Dürnstein and the Danube. A popular stop along the way is the large green lizard sculpture—an ideal photo spot. The trail continues along the “Apricot Mile”, past historic dry-stone walls and small villages, before returning from Rührsdorf to Rossatzbach. Gentle climbs alternate with flat sections, making the route pleasantly varied.
