Over 60 top winemakers will present their finest wines. The focus is traditionally on the best wineries of Lower Austria, as rated highest in the current Vinaria Wine Guide. WEIN & GENUSS Krems is likely the most beautiful wine fair in Austria.

When the apricot trees begin to blossom, the landscape transforms almost overnight. The vineyards brighten, the air turns gentler, and a special sense of renewal fills the surroundings. These are the days for walks through the hills, bike rides along the Danube, or quiet moments by the water.

When the slopes along the Danube begin to turn green and spring — just as it did 200 years ago — invites people to their first countryside outings, the town of Dürnstein annually welcomes enthusiastic “Schubertians” to Dürnstein Abbey.

A weekend — fresh, fruity, and full of finesse.

On the last weekend of April, Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, 2025, the Kremstal once again joins forces with the Kamptal and the Traisental to celebrate their shared Wine Spring.

The Wachau Wine Spring invites you to enjoy the first rays of sunshine of the year with fresh, aromatic wines. In picturesque vineyards along the Danube, visitors can look forward to tastings, exciting encounters with winemakers, and unforgettable shared moments in nature. A true feast for the senses!

The Corpus Christi procession in Dürnstein is a long-standing tradition where living faith and centuries-old customs come vividly to life.

On the longest day of the year, torches are lit along the Danube and impressive fireworks light up the sky above the vineyards
– a unique dining experience awaits on our Danube terrace.

Stroll through the terraces of the Loiben winegrowers’ “local mountain” — the Loibenberg
— and taste single-vineyard wines right in the vineyards, surrounded by breathtaking views!

From June 26 to 28, 2026, the Loiben Cellar Lane will be dedicated to wine, enjoyment, and a relaxed atmosphere each day starting at 2:00 PM.
The cellar lane invites you to stroll, linger, and explore. Visitors can sample wines from various winemakers
— perfectly paired with delicacies from the Wachau Heurigen cuisine.

When summer begins in the Wachau, the orchards turn a glowing golden orange:
the famous Wachau apricots are carefully harvested by hand, releasing their unmistakable fragrance.
Between the Danube, vineyards, and historic villages, a unique moment of indulgence is created each year – fresh, regional, and full of sunshine.

Every year in summer (late June to mid-July), the gentle rolling hills of the Waldviertel transform into an impressive sea of blossoms, with vibrant red, purple, and white poppies. The poppy bloom marks the highlight of the annual cycle of Waldviertel’s gray poppy.

The wonderful Renaissance ambiance of the Teisenhoferhof serves as the venue for the Wachau Festival in July, August and September in the market town of Weißenkirchen.

On July 12, 2026, the Wachau Bike Marathon kicks off in Mautern on the Danube.
Three challenging routes through the UNESCO World Heritage Wachau and the Waldviertel await you.
For young riders, there is the KidsBikeTrophy.

The Spitzer Apricot Festival 2026 will take place from July 17 to 19, 2026, in Spitz on the Danube.
This traditional celebration honors the Wachau apricot with music, dance, and regional specialties.

Waldviertel poppy reflects the flavor of the region like few other ingredients. Rich, nutty, and delicately aromatic, it features in specialties such as poppy pastries or poppy noodles and appears on many menus.

The WACHAU Marathon is a staple of Austrian running and uniquely combines nature, community, and athletic challenge.

The picturesque Wachau will transform into a vibrant star-studded spectacle on September 18 and 19, 2026:
National and international artists will set off a fireworks of hits over the skies of Rossatzbach on the Danube, directly opposite the Dürnstein castle ruins.

In an average year, the grape harvest is scheduled from early to mid-October. The duration of the harvest depends on the weather and the vineyard location, but in the Wachau it usually lasts until mid-November. The harvest begins with grapes for juice and young wine (“Sturm”), followed by early varieties and, if applicable, wines in the Steinfeder category.
